A SLOW FAREWELL
Title sequence

The concept for the title sequence revolves around the couple's marriage. Sonja has seduced her husband into marrying her, intending to kill him one day and take all his money. When he discovers her plan, he murders her and then commits suicide. The title sequence follows Flip Marais as he tries to unravel the entire story as a detective. The sequence will start with the date of their engagement, and throughout the title sequence, lines will be followed where there are notes and photos displayed. The idea is to pique the viewer's curiosity to find out what's happening, leading up to the end where the board is shot from a distance, and the "detective" examines what follows. The entire title sequence focuses on the board I use as my montage to show that something is being figured out. I use a wedding ring that consistently appears in the title sequence, indicating that the story is about their marriage. It starts by showing their apparent happiness, but at the very end, the detective looks at the ring and contemplates while dropping it into a puddle of water, suggesting that their marriage was not as "happy" as everyone thought. My goal is to make the viewer immediately want to be a part of the discovery of what happened and why.
